Dalmar foundation is a nonprofit and non-governmental organization founded 1996 under Somali cultural association with the aim of addressing the needs of Somali community in the Netherlands.
The ultimate goal of the foundation is to promote the well-being of Somalis and to facilitate the integration of the Somali community in the Dutch society, while maintaining the Somali culture. Further to stimulate Somalis in the Netherlands and Diaspora to participate peace and reconciliation and rebuilding of Somalia.
Moreover the organization stands to improve capacity of Somali people in the Netherlands through the use of media, training and conferences.
Our Working Areas
Dalmar foundation runs various activities which directly involve and benefit Somalis in the Netherlands, These include:
Media: Dalmar manages radio dalmar broadcasting programs designed to serve specific needs of many Somalis in the Netherlands whom are not currently served by other broadcast Medias. Dalmar also manages an interactive, multi-language website which provides non-biased information to the Somalis around the world as well as other people and organizations who are interested to learn about Somalia. Both the website and the radio provide reliable news and reports over current political and social information of Somalia and Somalis around the world.
Youth Project: Dalmar foundation motivates and encourages Somali youth in the Netherlands to develop self-expression through a variety of activities such as meeting, debate, and radio programs. We also organize for young Somalis in the Netherlands sports and leisure activities, an exchange programs to meet and exchange their experiences with other youth groups in other countries,
Training center: Dalmar offers training for Somalis in Diaspora to develop skills such as leadership, organizational management, communication skills, project management conflict management.
